Storytelling with Purpose: Creating a VBS Volunteer Recruitment Video

At Zympl, we believe in the power of storytelling to inspire action. Recently, we had the opportunity to partner with Christian Fellowship Church (CFC) in New Holland to create a volunteer recruitment video for their Vacation Bible School program. This project perfectly aligned with our passion for helping gospel-centered ministries tell their life-changing stories.

The Challenge

With the summer fast approaching, CFC needed to attract dedicated volunteers for their upcoming VBS program. Like many churches, they rely heavily on volunteers to create meaningful experiences for children in their community. The challenge was to create a compelling video that would inspire people to serve—all while working with essentially no budget.

Our Approach

Working within tight resource constraints often sparks creativity. For this project, we embraced a streamlined production approach that maximized impact while minimizing costs:

  1. Leveraging Existing Content: We utilized b-roll footage from the VBS recap film we created for CFC last summer. This not only saved production time but also showcased authentic moments from previous VBS events.

  2. Focused Storytelling: Rather than creating a generic call for volunteers, we centered the narrative on the joy of service and the real impact volunteers have on children's spiritual journeys.

  3. Authentic Testimonials: We included brief, heartfelt reflections from previous volunteers, allowing potential new volunteers to hear firsthand about the rewarding experience.

The Result

The final video captures the vibrant energy of CFC's VBS program while clearly communicating the need for volunteers. Through engaging visuals and compelling storytelling, we created a piece that not only serves as a recruitment tool but also reflects the church's mission of building a Christ-centered community.

Despite the budget constraints, the video maintains the high production quality that we pride ourselves on at Zympl. This project demonstrates that meaningful, impactful storytelling doesn't always require extensive resources—sometimes it just needs a clear vision and creative execution.

Our Passion for Ministry Storytelling

This project highlights something we're deeply passionate about at Zympl: helping gospel-centered ministries amplify their message. We believe that churches and faith-based organizations are doing some of the most important work in our communities, and their stories deserve to be told with excellence.

When ministries like CFC share their vision effectively, they can:

  • Connect more deeply with their communities

  • Inspire greater participation and service

  • Extend their impact beyond their physical walls

  • Transform lives through the power of the gospel

By creating videos that capture the heart of these ministries, we're not just providing a service—we're partnering in their mission to change lives.

Looking Forward

We're grateful for the opportunity to support Christian Fellowship Church in their volunteer recruitment efforts. Projects like these remind us why we do what we do: using our storytelling skills to help organizations that are making a real difference.

If you're part of a ministry looking to tell your story more effectively—whether for volunteer recruitment, community outreach, or sharing testimonies of life change—we'd love to help. Even with limited resources, powerful storytelling is possible when you partner with a team that shares your passion for the message.
